Letter from Cody: Lynnnwood Evangelism – April 2009

Dear Friend,

What a blessing that spring is here! As the living green begins to break forth from the brown underbrush, what a reminder it is of the resurrecting power of our God to bring new life from old, dead works. Every year we witness this powerful testimony of what our God desires to do in our lives, are we allowing Him? “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:5, 6. The lessons we can learn from creation abound. As we have been preparing a garden space and beginning to plant berries, trees and other edibles, I have been thinking about how absolutely little we can actually do. When planting trees, we can dig a large hole, fill it with compost and other nutrient-rich preparations, water it and watch it; but what is that? Only the miracle of life from heaven can bring the toil to fruition. How similar in our outreach efforts. Despite the effort, time and prayers that we put into sharing the message with others, still it is only the miracle of God that can bring conviction and conversion. How powerless we are to bring about any good thing. While we work with all our might, just like gardening, all we can do is wait and see how the Lord will work miracles to bring forth fruit out of lifeless ground! “So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.” But what a privilege that we can be “labourers together with God.” 1 Corinthians 3:7, 9

We have just concluded an evangelistic series here in Lynnwood, Washington, and are praising the Lord for His goodness in bringing the increase. It is common during a lengthy evangelistic program that interest will wane dscn0537-letterand numbers will begin to decrease-but not so in this series! It is one of the first times that I can remember that this did not happen-not to say that no one dropped off along the way, but others came in and filled their places. On the last night of the seminar, we actually had more guests than on the second night of the seminar. As we presented the testing truths relating to the rapture, the Sabbath, the state of the dead, the mark of the beast, the call out of Babylon, the gifts of the Spirit in the last days, people kept coming. It was obvious that everyone was thinking very hard about what was being shared.

When the Sabbath was covered, after the closing prayer an impromptu after meeting began with questions as people wrestled with this new concept. Some were taking it as interesting information to be studied more later; others’ countenances changed as they struggled with the life changing decisions that were being called for; but still others’ faces lit up as they saw the clear Biblical truths and responded. Many are still thinking and praying about what they are going to do, and we ask that you join us in prayer for them that they may make a decision for time and eternity.

The children’s meetings were a special blessing with a lively group of around fifteen young people studying, singing and making crafts, all corresponding with the nightly evangelistic topic. What a blessing that two-year-olds and up have been through a prophecy seminar geared specifically for them! The bustle of youthful activity caught the interest of one young boy who was staying in the hotel with his parents. He began regularly coming and enthusiastically participating. May he be an emissary of the Three Angels’ Messages to his parents and to his friends on the other side of the country! Two young men at the adult meetings were the last ones to leave each night as we discussed question after question and objections to the message which they had encountered. Although still in high school and college, they are eagerly grasping the message and sharing it. We praise the Lord for all of the many souls who have been touched and request your prayers as we seek to bring home by personal effort what has been presented in the public meetings.
